How do I access an online course?

Step 1: Purchase your course, or order activation codes

  • If you are an individual teacher: Visit the Professional Development area of our online store and buy courses with your credit card.

  • If you are an educational institution: To order activation codes for any online course, please complete this form and either send it to your local Cambridge representative, or email your order form to us. If you are already a Cambridge University Press customer, you can use your existing account number.

Step 2: Get started on your online learning!

All of the online courses are accessed on the Cambridge Learning Management System (the CLMS): the world’s most widely used learning platform for English language teaching.

  • If your institution has given you an activation code for using the CLMS:

If you are not registered on the CLMS:

  1. Register via the CLMS homepage. (NB: This applies even if you’re already registered in the role of ‘teacher’ on the system.)
  2. After you have registered as a new ‘student’ user, use your account details to log in via the CLMS homepage.
  3. After you have logged in, use the activation code your institution has given you, to access your chosen online course. Simply select ‘Activate a New Product’ and then follow the instructions on the next screen.

If you are already registered as a ‘student’ on the CLMS:

After you have logged in, use the activation code your institution has given you, to access your chosen online course.

Further help and advice:

Good luck with your course! You’re now the ‘student’, not the ‘teacher’. If you have a trainer or co-ordinator supporting you during the course, they will be ‘the teacher’.

What other online support is available for teachers?

  • The Cambridge Teacher Development resource library: provides easily accessible material for your professional development needs – including articles and webinars by teaching experts. The resource library can be accessed in the same way as our online courses – use an activation code for the resource library once you’ve logged into the CLMS.
  • The Teacher Development Toolkit gives useful guidance on setting up professional development programmes, based on each individual teacher’s needs. The Teacher Toolkit can be found in the resource library, under Resources > Professional Development.
  • Online training for Cambridge courses: free online training for teachers, if you’re teaching a Cambridge ELT course to your students.
  • Language development for teachers: for if you’re teaching an English language course, but want to improve your own English language level.
  • The TKT Online course, for if you’re preparing for the TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) teaching qualification Modules 1-3.
