Spotlight: Mark Squires
Mark Squires has been working in the telecommunications industry for over 35 years, starting as an apprentice with Philips in Cambridge where he worked in electronic engineering and sales, rising to Head of Sales before joining Hutchison Telecom to work on partnerships and later the launch of the UK Orange mobile network. He has worked as a consultant for several blue chip companies and joined Nokia in 1995 as Head of Business Development for the UK and Ireland.
As Nokia's main UK spokesman he moved to Marketing and later to head up Communications where he worked with all aspects of the media before taking the position of Global Director of Social Media for the Nokia Corporation, he also held the position of Communications Director for Western Europe. Since 2015 he has been the Communications Director for Lumia Devices at Microsoft UK.
Mark holds memberships of BAFTA, the Chartered Institute of PR and has held Directorships in the Nokia pension fund and the Mobile Data Association, currently he is a Trustee and Director of the Cambridge Meridian Trust.
Mark is married to Susan, they have 3 grown up children. His interest in village life has led him to serve as a college governor, a member of the church council and on the PTA at the primary school. He also served as secretary for the local football club where, for several years, he managed a boys team. His hobbies include film and the cinema, restoring pinball machines and contract bridge.
