We are proud to have apprentices and former apprentices working in a wide range of areas here at the Press, in Communications, Customer Services, Finance, HR, Marketing, Publishing, Project Management, Sales and Technology. In joining us, you will broaden your skills whilst gaining first-hand experience of the publishing industry.
An apprenticeship can be a great alternative to university. Our apprentices are highly valued for bringing unique skills, and a fresh, innovative approach. You'll be working alongside colleagues and a recognised training provider, and will get the time and support you need to unlock your full potential. You will earn while you learn, and be part of a wider cohort of apprentices, benefiting from training opportunities together.

When are roles advertised?
Roles are usually advertised in May, with applications due in June and interviews in July.
Where are apprenticeships based?
Apprenticeship opportunities are based in Cambridge.
How does the application process work?
Applications are made online, followed by an open morning and an interview. The open morning is a chance to find out more about Cambridge University Press before candidates arrive for their interview the same week.
When do apprenticeships begin?
Most of our apprenticeship roles start in September.
Are there any entry requirements?
Candidates are usually educated to A Level or equivalent.
How long does an apprenticeship take to complete?
Apprenticeships typically take around 18 to 20 months, depending on the apprenticeship.
What qualifications do apprentices gain?
The new Government apprenticeship standards are nationally recognised. Some of our apprenticeships work towards the Business Administrator Level 3 standard and some work towards the new Publishing Assistant apprenticeship Level 3 standard.
Individuals can expect to have ongoing discussions with their line manager, about future career goals and their potential within the organisation.
What happens at the end of an apprenticeship?
Our apprentices are guaranteed a job on completion of the apprenticeship.
What are apprentices paid?
The starting salary for an entry level apprenticeship is about £14,300. This rises mid-way through the apprenticeship based on performance, and again on completion of the apprenticeship, to about £18,900.
